Roxane Spitzer, PhD, MBA, RN, FAAN, has been named the Vice President, Executive Strategist for OnSomble, it was announced today. Spitzer, a 31-year veteran of health care management, joins OnSomble after recently serving as the Interim Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive at DeKalb Regional Health System in Atlanta, Ga.

Spitzer’s responsibilities at OnSomble will be to help lead and develop specific product line strategies as well as having direct client interaction at the front end of customer consultations. In addition, Spitzer, who is an accomplished strategic writer, will also write articles for various health care publications for OnSomble.

In addition to her position at DeKalb, Sptizer has also served as the Chief Executive Officer at Metropolitan Nashville Hospital Authority (1999-2005); the Chief Operating Officer at Vanderbilt Medical Group (1995-99); the Chief Operating Officer and Vice President, Managed Care Operations, Medicus Systems Corporation (1993-95); Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer , The Hospital of the Good Samaritan (1991-93;)Corporate Vice President, St. Joseph Health System (1988-92); and the Vice President of Patient Services at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (1981-88). During her professional career, Spitzer has also taught at Texas Tech University, Vanderbilt and the School of Medicine at Meharry Medical College.
Spitzer earned a PhD in Executive Management/Strategic Management as well as an MBA and MA from Claremont Graduate University in Pomona, Ca. where she was a protégé of Peter Drucker, the father of modern management theory. She also has an MA in nursing administration from Columbia University. Prior to her postgraduate education, Spitzer earned a degree in nursing from Adelphi University. Always an educator, Spitzer has lectured nationally about nursing, management and leadership. She has also authored two books on nursing, been published more than 30 times, and lectures at conferences across the country.
Active in her community, Spitzer has served on numerous community boards and organizations throughout her career, including an appointment by the Governor of Tennessee to serve on the State Health Planning and Advisory Board in addition to the Tennessee Health Care Facilities Board of Licensing. She has also been awarded the Tennessee Hospital Associations Meritorious Services Award. She was also a previous recipient of the Pfizer Award for exceptional contributions to health care.
